Goals

Paste the class goal under their desks and have them lay on the floor to read them.

Book Worms

Keep a card on the students desk. Each completed page in their "book log" signed by a parent/whomever earns them a worm sticker on their card. A filled card earns a trip to the treasure box.

Morning Handshake

As students enter the class they will:

- shake my hand
- look me in the eye
- say, "Good morning. My name is Vanessa and when I grow up I want to be ________."

When they aren't doing well in class etc... "Don't you think this is a skill you will need to be a _____? Do you think that a _______ can act this way?"

Daily Goals

- Each student will receive one piece of mail Monday morning. It will be there goal (academic and/or behavioral)for the week. The goal will be based on assessment from the week before.

- The goal will be kept in a clip that is attached to the student's desk.

- Each morning after the pledge, EVERY student will stand up and read their goal to the entire class.

Standards Thermometers

- Individual Thermometers: one for each state standard divided into tenths. Student gets to color in 1/10 after showing mastery on that standard through homework, problem of the day, midweek quiz etc.

- Collective Thermometer: shows the class progress as a whole

TFA Corps Members in action...

A few Denver corps members started The Denver Youth Empowerment Fund to collect donations for various projects/causes they had taken on there. The fund now advertises and collects money for projects of TFA corps members in 10 different regions.

Donorschoose.org

Donorschoose.org is a way for teachers to advertise projects they are working on in class and how much money they need for supplies for said project. Donors can decide to give (either the full amount needed or a partial amount at their discretion) to whichever teacher/project they choose.
